Ph.D. Student, Materials Science & Engineering, University of Toronto
M.Sc. (Texas A&M University), B.Sc. (BUET)
I grew up in Khulna, Bangladesh, where I completed school and college before moving to Dhaka for my undergraduate studies at BUET, graduating in May 2022. From there I crossed the world to Texas for my M.Sc. at Texas A&M University, and I'm now pursuing my Ph.D. at the University of Toronto.
Outside the lab, I love collecting books and sharing knowledge, so even while I am away, people can still borrow printed books from my personal collection through my personal library website. I also care deeply about what happens back home — I've organized and joined protests and social activism around issues affecting Bangladesh. I'm a dedicated admirer of Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi's literature, and I enjoy losing myself in mathematical problem solving whenever I get the chance.

Outside the lab, these are a few of the things that take up my time and attention.
I love collecting books and sharing knowledge, and over the years I have built a good personal collection back home. Now that I am away on study leave for higher education, I did not want those books to sit unread, so I built a website where approved members can browse my physical collection, request up to two books at a time, and borrow the printed copies as usual. Friends and well-wishers are also welcome to donate books to it.
None of this would be possible without my parents, who hand the books over to members once I approve each request. My heartfelt thanks to them for keeping the knowledge moving.
Long before Bayesian optimization, I was chasing identities in number theory and linear algebra for their own sake. That habit produced a peer-reviewed paper deriving a new recurrence relation for Bernoulli numbers from the power-sum of natural numbers — still the piece of work I'm proudest of outside my main field:
I care about what happens back home and show up for it — organizing and joining demonstrations with the Bangladeshi community, including protests against authoritarianism and in solidarity with students during Bangladesh's 2024 uprising.
Outside my formal training in materials science, my thinking has been shaped by Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi's writing — I'm a great admirer of his literature, and its approach to ethics, society, and systems of thought has stayed with me more than any single course or textbook.
A few talks I've given — click to watch in-page:
A lifelong cricket fan and player — it's the game I grew up with in Bangladesh, and still the easiest way to get me away from a screen on a weekend.
A few posts I've shared on LinkedIn:
